The Chapel dedicated to Sant’Aquilino, named after the priest and martyr buried there since the 11th century, was originally built as an imperial mausoleum adjacent to the central body of the Basilica during the 4th century.

With its architecture and mosaics, it still represents today the most significant legacy of Early Christian Milan and a symbolic site connected to the imperial history of the city.
