Restoration and conservation of the tiburium roof

The restoration and conservation works involved the roof of the tiburium, which was in poor conservation conditions due to structural settlements and water infiltration.

The restoration works included:

  • the reconstruction of the roof covering following the consolidation and integration of the secondary supporting structure;
  • the installation of a waterproof layer on a new wooden decking surface to protect the existing traditional roof tiles (embrici) discovered during the works;
  • the reconstruction of the roof covering using a double batten system, with metal anchoring of both the roof tiles (coppi) and the underlying tiles (sottocoppi) through suitable intermediate support rows.
